Gone Juicing

Now that I'm on a two glass a day juice habit, my little free time has been sucked up by prepping veggies and cleaning up. I did invest in a new juicer because my cheapy one was so loud, it was waking everyone in the house up in the morning. I was about to have a riot on my hands. I can now juice to my heart's content in the morning without any of the sleeping beauties slamming doors in irritation.

I have to say that something seems to be working with the juice. I know it's going to take awhile to really see a difference, but my whole attitude has changed from doom-n-gloom to "failure is not an option". I just have a feeling that this is going to plump up my wilting ovaries. I wake up feeling happy instead of anxious or depressed. Today is day 23 of my cycle and I have not gotten my period with narry a spotting in site. I've been high-fivin' my ovaries all day. You see, my last two cycles have been a whoopin' 22 days long. "Normal" for me is 21-24 days. It's been that way all my life. With my crappy Day 2 results this cycle and hot flashes, I just assumed this would be an anovulatory cycle and I'd get AF by day 19 (it's happened before, though rarely).

A few days after juicemania started, I decided to get a shot of wheatgrass at Whole Foods Paycheck. Even though I sipped it, I thought I was going to hurl afterward. Wheatgrass is the most veilest of juices. This stuff is good for you? I even tried mixing it in my veggie juice at home and I couldn't finish it. A dab will do you. I read in Julia_Indichova's book that she drank it because she read somewhere that it improved the fertility of cows. Well, since cows eat grass, I can see how they would do well on wheatgrass. Now I know why my cats always puked up the grass they ate. Although I feel bloated like a cow sometimes, I don't have four stomachs. Nevertheless, I will start adding wheatgrass to my juices in small quantities because it's supposed to be so great for you. No more shots for me. It's like drinking a strong shot of pure stevia - ick.

I fear that if this juicing really works, I'm going to become a fanatic, like this spoof Jim Carey did of Jay the Juiceman:

I'm so happy that you're happy! I'm glad you're feeling lighter and I am sending you all kinds of vibes that it stays! Enjoy your new juicer and all your yummy juice! Love that video!

Good on you Phoebe; it is so fab when you see your body reacting well to what you're putting into it. Just wanted to say separately, I saw on another blog your comment that you may not qualify for CGH? I am at the same clinic you are - the mecca/mall - and did CGH last time with 3 blasts (from 3 fertilised eggs). If you want to do CGH my understanding is you can do it. Don't want to step on your toes but just wanted to share my experience. Keep on doing what you're doing on the juicing front! PS: FSH is just a number. You'd want to hear Randine Lewis on that one. How many women with high FSH are getting pregnant all the time but don't know they've high FSH because they're not getting tested? I've high FSH too, hence the rant

I haven't got into the whole juicer thing. Do the drinks actually taste good? Do you follow recipes or just kind of improvise?
I hear you on the wheatgrass. It is supposed to be good for us but man - disgusting!

Here's a juicer spoof (kind of):

Hmm need more a jucing details - what are you jucing - pehaps some jucicing recipes that you would like to share? I get my wheat grass in caplet form (the wheat grass is compacted - still sorta gross - but not as gross as a shot of wheat grass...

Loved the video, thanks for sharing, I needed a good laugh.

Good for you on juicing! I've been drinking wheat grass juice every morning for a year now. I can't stand the shots at the health food stores, way too sweet and thick. I get the frozen cubes from dynamicgreens.com and it tastes so much better and doesn't gag you. I just put a few cubes in a glass of spring water.

Best of luck to you in your next adventure!

I've had straight wheat grass. ICK! It's rough. But with other juiced veggies and a fruit pumped in, it's yummy I think.

So funny Jill M's comment about wheatgrass juice from dynamicgreens.com. I live a 1/2 hour from the farm and I used to drink their stuff all the time too and it doesn't taste bad at all. Juicing makes me feel so healthy too since I have a hard time digesting my leafy greens and an easier way for me to "eat" them is to juice them. I'm glad you're feeling better.

that video is great! I only drank something from a juicer once and I got the hugest buzz off of it. like my ears were ringing. It had the usual carrots, celery and whatever else with a ton of radishes... ahhhhh

Keep it up!

I cannot tell you how happy I was to find your comments on my blog! Thank you for your insight - it's so good to find someone else who's been working through this TCM stuff(my latest, probably very naive post will likely make you laugh!). I'm sorry, too, to hear that you had a loss. I've never been pregnant, and I can't imagine how awful that must be. A yin deficiency, huh? Then juicing is definitely the right thing for you, isn't it? I agree that wheat grass is yucky! Before I found out I shouldn't be drinking juice, I had shots of it in carrot/apple juice from time to time and I found that hid the flavour very well. While I am up early cooking steel cut oats, I will think of you, my juicing yin sister! XO
